Use Critterfolio to help care follow the animal.

Who may use Critterfolio

Accounts are intended for adults who are authorized to create, view or manage the animal information they use. Do not impersonate another person, rescue, adopter, foster, veterinarian or organization.

Your information and your animal's record

You keep ownership of content you provide. You give Critterfolio only the limited permission needed to host, process, secure, transmit, back up, export and display that content to you and the people or services you intentionally authorize as necessary to operate Critterfolio.

Critterfolio preserves provenance and history. A record of stewardship, rescue custody, foster placement or adoption in Critterfolio is not a legal ruling about title, ownership, inheritance or a disputed custody claim.

Care, health and medical information

Critterfolio helps preserve care continuity. It does not diagnose, prescribe, provide veterinary treatment or replace a veterinarian, poison-control service, emergency responder or other qualified professional. When professional or emergency help is needed, use the appropriate professional service.

Users are responsible for reviewing important care and medical details and keeping time-sensitive information current.

AI and transcription

Transcripts and AI-assisted extractions may be incomplete or wrong. They are drafts and suggestions, not professional advice or verified facts. Review them before preserving anything important.

Emergency QR capabilities

Emergency QR is supplemental. It is not a guarantee that a responder will have connectivity, scan the code, reach Critterfolio or act on the information. Keep appropriate physical identification, microchip/contact records, medication labels and offline instructions for your situation.

An emergency capability URL functions like a key. Protect it accordingly. Rotate or revoke it if it is exposed, outdated or no longer appropriate, and replace old printed copies when needed.

Acceptable use

Do not use Critterfolio to gain unauthorized access, probe for private records, defeat access controls, scrape private information, distribute malware, harass or stalk someone, unlawfully surveil a person or household, falsify authority, interfere with another user's access, or use animal records to expose a protected person's location or private contacts.

Do not upload content you are not legally permitted to provide or content designed to harm the service or another person.

Account security

Keep your device, passkeys, sessions and recovery methods secure. Tell Critterfolio through the published support channel if you believe your account or sharing capability has been compromised. Critterfolio may revoke sessions, capabilities or access when reasonably necessary to protect animals, people, records or the service.

Availability, portability and changes

Critterfolio is intended to remain free for core animal-care continuity. Free access does not mean the service can promise uninterrupted or perpetual availability. Critterfolio may change, suspend or discontinue functionality when necessary for safety, security, law, reliability or sustainability.

Portable export is a core continuity feature so useful animal information can leave Critterfolio when authorized.

Third-party services and supporter links

External sites and independently operated services have their own terms and privacy practices. A supporter listing is not a blanket endorsement of every product, service or claim made by that supporter.

Suspension and misuse

Critterfolio may limit or suspend access when reasonably necessary to investigate or stop abuse, unauthorized access, security threats, unlawful use or conduct that creates material risk to an animal, person, organization or the service. Legitimate historical provenance is not automatically erased merely because current access is revoked.

Disclaimers and legal rights

Critterfolio is provided as an animal-care continuity service. To the extent permitted by law, it is provided without guarantees that every record is complete, every user statement is accurate, every emergency capability will be reachable, or every third-party service will remain available.

Nothing in these terms waives rights or remedies that cannot legally be waived.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change materially, Critterfolio will update the effective date and provide appropriate notice before materially different terms apply.
