Critterfolio will never sell your information.

What “never sell” means here

Critterfolio does not sell, rent, license or trade information about you, your animals, household, rescue, foster or adopter relationships, care or medical continuity, emergency information, source materials, photos, recordings or private activity for advertising, lead generation or data brokerage.

Critterfolio does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising and does not build advertising profiles from private Critterfolio activity.

Supporters, sponsors and payment systems do not receive raw Critterfolio events or hidden Critterfolio identifiers about your account, animals or private activity.

What Critterfolio may collect

Depending on what you choose to use, Critterfolio may store account and session identifiers; animal identity and story information; care, health, medication and nutrition continuity; photos, audio and source documents; stewardship, rescue and authorization history; emergency-sharing selections; and limited security, abuse-prevention and reliability records.

Critterfolio is designed to avoid collecting unnecessary human demographic information. Sensitive information should exist only when it serves care, authorization, continuity, safety, support, security or legal obligations.

How information is used

Information is used to operate Critterfolio, preserve an animal's history and provenance, authorize access, help caregivers continue care, create the emergency information you deliberately choose to publish, provide exports and recovery, prevent abuse, support the service and comply with law.

Critterfolio does not turn uncertainty into fact. Reported information, source wording and disagreements are preserved rather than silently rewritten.

Voice, transcripts and AI suggestions

If you use voice or document assistance, Critterfolio may send the minimum necessary recording, transcript or text to a contracted infrastructure or AI provider to perform the feature you requested. The original source remains part of the provenance chain.

AI-generated material is treated as a draft or suggestion. It does not become a canonical care or medical fact until an authorized person reviews and accepts it.

Photos, recordings and source files

Private source files are private by default. They are not public merely because they are stored in Critterfolio. Access is controlled through Critterfolio authorization, and public emergency sharing does not expose private source files unless a future feature expressly says otherwise and you deliberately choose it.

Emergency QR sharing

An emergency QR capability is a shareable key. Anyone who has a valid, unrevoked capability can see only the fields selected for that emergency profile. Sensitive items such as medication physical location or exact hiding/sleeping location are off by default and require deliberate opt-in.

You can rotate or revoke an emergency capability. If you rotate a capability, replace old printed copies when continued access matters.

Service providers

Critterfolio may use infrastructure, storage, security, communications, payment or AI service providers to operate requested features. Providers should receive only what is reasonably necessary for their role and must not receive Critterfolio private data for their own behavioral advertising or data-broker purposes.

Production providers and settings are reviewed against the never-sell promise and Critterfolio's security requirements before activation.

Retention, correction and deletion

Critterfolio keeps information only while there is a legitimate continuity, security, legal, support or operational reason to keep it. Animal history and provenance may need to persist when another authorized steward or rescue is legitimately entitled to that history.

Where correction matters, Critterfolio is designed to preserve history rather than secretly overwrite it. You may request account closure or deletion of personal account information, subject to records Critterfolio must or reasonably needs to retain for security, fraud prevention, legal obligations, audit integrity or legitimate shared animal-history provenance.

Portable export is a core Critterfolio feature so an animal's useful record is not trapped inside one provider.

Security

Critterfolio uses administrative, technical and product safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information it holds, including scoped authorization, revocation, private storage, bounded public projections and recovery testing. No internet service can promise absolute security.

If a security incident triggers legal notice obligations, Critterfolio will follow applicable breach-notification requirements.

Children

Critterfolio accounts are intended for adults. Critterfolio is not designed as a child-directed service and does not knowingly seek personal information directly from children under 13. If Critterfolio learns that it has collected personal information directly from a child in circumstances covered by children's privacy law, it will address collection, use, deletion and parental rights as required.

Adults should avoid adding unnecessary personal information about children to an animal's record.

When you leave Critterfolio

If you deliberately choose an external supporter or other third-party link, Critterfolio does not intentionally attach your animal, account, rescue or private activity information to that link. Once you arrive at an independently operated site, that site's own privacy practices govern what happens there.

Your choices and requests

Critterfolio supports access to your animal information, portable export, emergency-share rotation/revocation and correction through the application's history-preserving workflows. Additional privacy or account requests can be made through Critterfolio's public support/privacy contact once public enrollment opens.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, Critterfolio will update the effective date and provide appropriate notice before using information in a materially different way.
